■現役の大学生講師です。ベジタリアンであり、ビジネスとしてレストランをやりたいとの意気込みを聞かせてくれました。

■今週は予約がうまくとれず、代打的に「いますぐレッスン」で対応いただいた授業もありました。

こんな職業、初めて聞きました。
オンラインで勤務する庶務みたいな感じですね。
アポ取りから商品の価格交渉まで幅広い職務内容で非常に” stressful “だとのことでした。

僕はネイティブ・キャンプの無料利用を1週間して全世界各地にいるインストラクターが時間を問わずサポートしてくれるシステムを楽しみました。

その際に日本人にも講師がいることを知ったのです。

会社社内でTOEIC受験のインストラクターをした経験のある僕は自分でもネイティブキャンプのシステムを使えばインストラクターができるかもしれないな・・

TOEIC885、海外営業員として日本で英語を使って業務をした経験を25年持つので「大丈夫だろうな」と思いますので、応募してみます。

採用テストの出題形式はTOEIC-Part5 の4択問題と類似とのことなので問題集に取り組み中です。

いまは「講師受験生」として毎朝、Part5の練習問題とネイティブキャンプを1レッスン受講をしています。

[Level 8-10] The Influencer Industry:

Social Media Becomes Professional
YouTube was once a platform where viewers watched crude, amateur videos for free. However, as video technology became more sophisticated, making videos became more expensive and time-consuming. So video creators became more commercially-oriented as they looked for ways to pay for costs and even turn a financial profit on all the hours they spent creating content.

At first, selling advertising space seemed the solution, but ad income plummeted, and although some platforms like TikTok subsidize channels, compensation is low. Creators can sell site merchandise, but sales are usually limited and erratic, so sites, especially sites with multiple creators, can’t cover expenses. This difficulty, plus having to deal with some restrictions, made another income source necessary.

Sorted Food, a popular YouTube cooking channel, was one of the first channels to create a paid membership club, which they offered alongside their free social media sites. They used their free sites to promote their club, betting that their subscribership of 2.4 million fans would join in exchange for special content and exclusive apps. Other popular sites have done the same.

For YouTube and other social media viewers, this means that fans more often have to pay to support their favorite sites, and each time the membership club text pops up on a site, the more the initial idea of free social media slips away.

Zoe Glatt, a researcher of online culture at the London School of Economics, feels that the need of creators to stabilize their income is making social media more into an influencer industry that increasingly resembles the traditional media it originally opposed.
