B. Yes. He’s been a professional musician since he graduated from music school.

★ 現在完了は今でも引き続きやっているかがポイント

「いまでも」

🎻彼はミュージシャンですか?

彼が今でもミュージシャンであれば “He is a musician. “

以前からミュージシャンであるので “He has been a musician” ともいえます。

この場合は過去のことをハッキリあらわす “since” などとセットになります✍️

He has been a musician “since” he graduated from music school.

I am learning the grammar differentiation as follows:

Example Question: Is Mr.White a professional musician?

If he is currently a professional musician then the answer is “He has been a professional musician. “

I case that he quite being a professional musician then answer is “He was a professional musician. “

I would like to see for what case I can use the present tense “He is a professional musician. “

Your support would be appreciated.

Climate Change Could Make Everyday Foods Into Luxuries

① Global climate change could cause everyday foods such as meat, spices, and coffee to become luxury items once again.

② How does a particular food become a luxury item? Price and scarcity both play a role. When sugar, salmon, strawberries, and raspberries became more readily available year-round, they were no longer considered luxury items.

③ However, our obsession with sourcing scarce foods is taking a toll on the planet. As a species of seafood becomes more scarce, the price increases. The increased value makes people work even harder to catch the remaining ones, leading to extinction.

④ Chocolate and coffee are at risk of becoming scarce and expensive again because production areas such as Ivory Coast and Ghana have been hit hard by climate change.

⑤ In 2017, a cyclone devastated 30% of the vanilla crop in Madagascar. At $600 per kilogram, the spice was briefly more expensive than silver.

⑥ As more people adopt a plant-based diet to reduce their carbon footprint, meat will likely become a luxury item in the next few decades. According to Peter Alexander, a senior researcher in global agriculture and food security at the University of Edinburgh, eating meat could even become as socially unacceptable as smoking.

⑦ He adds that some countries may choose to tax meat in the future to lower their emissions, as many countries have already done with sugar. Taxing meat would make it more expensive, and therefore it would become a luxury product rather than a staple in many countries and cultures.
